Natasha’s passion for personal injury law began while working her articles and initial stages of her law career in big city Perth.
In 2011, with inspiration from her parents’ successful business, she began what we now know as Peninsula Personal Injury Lawyers and saw her move her small family to Mandurah, away from the big city lights. Unlike most law firms, whose names refer back to the business owner, she named her business after a local historical landmark in Mandurah; the Morton Bay Fig Tree planted in 1930. This landmark signifies strength, endurance and stability, qualities which are vital for a successful outcome for our clients.
This saw the humble beginnings of her team comprising of her and a receptionist, for those first few years. Through hard work and determination, this saw her team grow to what it is today, with a fully staffed main office in Mandurah which is where she is based and a fully staffed Perth based office in North Perth. This expansion took place after her brother Justin joined as Director in recent years. Today, Natasha is proud her business has become the Peel Regions only specialist in personal injury law.
After 25 years of experience in personal injury claims, Natasha has worked very closely with a wide range of clients, with many of them having endured heart breaking physical and mental pain after being injured. Doing absolutely everything she can to minimise this suffering and maximise their compensation is what keeps her moving forward in this often emotionally draining type of work.
On her down time Natasha is enjoys cheering her girls on in dance and being a soccer mum for her son! In summer Natasha enjoys being in touch with her adventurous side as she spends family time scooting around at our local waterways on their family jet-ski. This is balanced with her love for the peace and tranquillity of a good yoga session.
Family business is in the DNA of the Cvitan Family, so it was a natural and most welcomed progression for Justin to join his sister Natasha as a Director of the growing Peninsula Personal Injury Lawyers in 2016.
His diverse legal background of commercial litigation, native title, mining and personal injury law made it easy for him to adapt to a career change of solely personal injury law. After a few months with Natasha in Mandurah, Justin opened up the North Perth office, allowing him to be closer to his home with his wife and triplet boys, while expanding the reach of support available to our personal injury clients in the Northern reach.
The North Perth office premises has significant meaning to Justin and Natasha, as it’s owned by their parents, and it was a childhood promise from them that one day “they would run their business from there”. Mum and Dad often visit the North Perth office helping with odd jobs, and finding any excuse to enjoy a coffee or lunch with their two children that make them so proud.
Juggling a newly established office has its challenges, but for Justin, the payoff is being more accessible to North of the River clients who are looking the Big City experience in personal injury law, contrasted by the warm heart and understanding of a family owned and operated business.
During Justin’s downtime, he enjoys listening to many different types of podcasts, especially intriguing true crime stories and can be a bit of a Netflix junkie, enjoying a lot of family movie time. His musically talented triplet boys, see him visit various locations around Perth as their small band is often booked for family friendly music gigs.
Durga is our newest team member, and is one of our solicitors. She is based in our North Perth office, and works mainly alongside Justin. She has just returned to Australia from six and a half cold years working in London, and having explored different practice areas of law. Durga works mainly with our Workers’ Compensation clients and loves the fast paced environment of personal injury law. Her greatest satisfaction is helping her clients achieve a positive outcome after a normally testing time in their lives. After so many years in the snow, Durga loves the outdoor life of Australia and spends her weekends with her son, husband and family enjoying the sunshine. She also enjoys baking for her boys!
Vanessa has been part of the team since April 2017, and works closely with Natasha, the barristers and the clients during the progress of their claims. Vanessa also coordinates settlement conferences and keeps clients updated. Vanessa enjoys the variety of her role and the fast paced work environment. During her down time she spends a lot of time on or around the basketball court with her children and catching up with friends.
Tracey previously worked in the background for PPIL as a consultant crunching the numbers for Natasha since July 2013, and as a consequence of continual growth within the business, she recently joined the team internally as the Practice manager in February 2019. Tracey believe she has the best job in the team, as she is responsible for releasing settlement funds to Peninsula Personal Injury Lawyers’ clients, which is typically a huge relief after a normally trying time for clients. Tracey’s weekends are normally spent between her son’s baseball, daughters dance and athletics and enjoying quality time with family and friends.
Jude is one of the friendly voices you hear when phoning the office. She started with Peninsula Personal Injury Lawyers in January 2018 to help out as a casual for a short one week stint. Her hard work and friendly demeanour soon became apparent to Natasha and Justin, and they realised she would be a valuable asset to the team. Jude enjoys reassuring clients of the progress of their claim and juggling Natasha and Justin’s busy diaries. She spends her weekend out in the bush with her boys mountain biking and relaxing with a book.
Kelly joined the team in June 2018. Her story is quite unusual in that she was injured whilst working on the mines and required a work place to perform her Return to Work Program whilst on workers’ compensation. As a result of this, Kelly understands the claims process from our clients’ point of view. At the end of her claim, Natasha and Justin offered a role in the team, as she was a good fit for this business. Over the weekend she and her partner enjoy riding their Harley Davidsons around our beautiful state, and on many occasions do this as part of charity fund raising events.
Alissa works mainly in our North Perth office alongside Justin and Durga. She is our IT guru who works mainly to improve and automate our systems and processes and therefore reducing wasted time and inefficiencies. She works closely with our software and hardware providers to find the best possible solution for our business. During her down time, Alissa sticks to her passion for technology and enjoys PC gaming and a good book.
